The month of Ramadan always brings a more lively and festive vibe to Jakarta. People from all walks of life make the most of this special time with various activities—whether it’s ngabuburit, attending islamic teaching in mosque, or enjoying sahur with family and friends.
One of the most anticipated traditions is ngabuburit and breaking the fast together. As Maghrib approaches, crowds gather at culinary spots, cafés, and restaurants.
In this article, BVT conducts a location-based demand analysis. Using mobile device traffic data, BVT identifies the three most visited places by Jakarta residents during Ramadan 2024.
Here are the results:
In the image above, you’ll see circles of different sizes. These circles represent crowded spots based on mobile device data.
The bigger the circle, the busier the place, meaning lots of people gather and hang out there. On the other hand, smaller circles indicate places with fewer visitors.
After taking a closer look, we noticed three spots with bigger circles than the rest.
This means these areas had more visitors during the data collection period. The three hotspots are Manggarai, West Kuningan, and Tanjung Duren.
There were 7,062,622 devices recorded in Manggarai, 1,956,190 in West Kuningan, and 1,616,580 in Tanjung Duren.

Manggarai Location Analysis
What’s interesting is that this spot in Manggarai is pretty close to Manggarai Station—Jakarta’s busiest train station. With 10 active tracks and thousands of passengers passing through daily, it’s no surprise that this area sees a lot of movement.
The high mobility around the station adds to the number of detected devices in Manggarai, making it one of the most visited areas during Ramadan.
Around this point, various Points of Interest (POIs) contribute to the area’s hustle and bustle, including office buildings, cafés, coffee shops, Padang food stalls, street food vendors, and restaurants.
West Kuningan Location Analysis
This spot is in a prime location, near the JAMSOSTEK Tower office area, Santa Market, and the Senopati area.
This area is packed with food options, including 3 cafés, 5 coffee shops, a Padang rice stall, 27 street food vendors, 12 restaurants, and 27 fast-food spots. With so many choices, it’s no wonder people love to hang out here—especially while waiting for ngabuburit and breaking their fast.
Tanjung Duren Location Analysis
If we take a closer look, the points are around Jl. Tanjung Duren Barat and the food spots on Jl. Muwardi & Jl. Susilo.
Around this point, various POIs make the area even busier and more appealing to visitors, especially food lovers. The area is home to 31 street food stalls, 16 restaurants, 3 Padang rice stalls, 2 cafés, and 4 coffee shops.
Average Time Spent
When it comes to visit duration, Tanjung Duren has the longest average stay at 33.08 minutes, followed by West Kuningan at 32.28 minutes, just slightly behind. Meanwhile, Manggarai has a shorter average visit of 25.55 minutes.
Interestingly, even though Manggarai has the highest number of visitors, the shorter stay suggests that people there tend to move around more. In contrast, visitors in Tanjung Duren and West Kuningan seem to spend more time in one place.
Final Thoughts
From the data analysis above, we can see that Manggarai, Kuningan Barat, and Tanjung Duren are the three busiest areas in Jakarta during Ramadan 2024.
But there’s something interesting—even though Manggarai has the most visitors, people don’t stay as long compared to West Kuningan and Tanjung Duren.
One possible reason is its location near Manggarai Station, a major transit hub. Many people just stop by for a while before continuing their journey elsewhere, so they don’t spend much time in one spot.
On the other hand, West Kuningan and Tanjung Duren have a different vibe. These areas are packed with culinary spots, making visitors more likely to hang around longer before heading to their next destination.
